| From the late 1940's through the 1970's there were jewelry companies who supplied the material and kits so people could make their own jewelry. These companies encouraged women, in particular, to make the jewelry and then sell it to family and friends. Samantha, of "Crown Jewels @ RubyLane", has kindly allowed me to feature her photos of this Hobbycraft Supply Service catalog on RCJ. You will notice some designs in the catalog were based on popular designs from mainline costume jewelry companies. The company was located at 208 N. Wells St., Chicago 6, Ill. Please contact Dotty at jewels@illusionjewels.com if you have more information on this company, or if you have old jewelry catalogs or other jewelry paper items you would like to share on RCJ. |
